iGURU!’s – Weekly Review – 25th August 2019
We live in an Age of abundant information – however – the ‘skill’ is in the ‘processing’ / ‘digesting’ the sea of information, we are exposed to on a day to day basis.
The next step is deriving meaning / value / purpose.
Let’s face it – the world is a rather strange place. Let me give you some examples that I have recently encountered. I came across an article this week, which described the experiments of some scientists – who are spending valuable time, money and resources – creating hybrid human-monkey chimeras and human-pig chimeras. I have to ask myself – for what possible purpose?
Another strange (because its being permitted to happen) and concerning article I came across this week, was about the Brazilian Rainforest which is currently ablaze – and according to some sources, the fire was deliberately started – by those who would rather use the land – once cleared – for commercial gain i.e. they want to make money out of the land, which in my opinion forms part of the natural heritage of Humanity. – It should be remembered that this land is treasured not just for its natural beauty, but for its relevance in the Planets ecosystem. We need oxygen to breathe – and to keep us alive – what could be more stupid than acts that destroy the rainforest. The rainforests of South America alone – are responsible for 20% of the Earth’s oxygen. It would seem that this is indeed, a strange world.
Another interesting topic that has come to my attention this week – are a couple of articles dealing with the ‘global leadership deficit’ – a current crisis. Somehow, a large swathe of Humanity, now finds itself governed / lead by, what various articles describe as – ‘egotistical oligarchs,’ ‘megalomaniacs,’ ‘gangsters’ – ‘reality tv show personalities’ / ‘celebrities’ – it seems these are the necessary qualities required to ascend the heights of ‘global leadership’ nowadays. On the point of ‘reality tv show – global leaders’ – its not reality, is it? We all know that these reality shows are scripted – crafted by commercial artistic / dramatic scriptwriters – what does that say about, not just our leaders – but the events we see unfolding around us?
It would seem from these articles that ‘basic leadership skills,’ once evident a couple of generations ago – have disappeared.
What! – With half human – half monkey beings – beautiful rainforests up in smoke – and clowns / comedians and reality tv show hosts in global leadership – it is indeed – a strange – strange – strange world – we do indeed inhabit.
